In the picturesque town of Naousa, Greece, an ambitious and inspiring 3-day initiative unfolded—EARTH-2030, a European Town Twinning project uniting five nations in the name of climate neutrality, digital inclusion, and zero waste. With participants from Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, Spain, and Romania, the project embodied EU priorities under the European Green Deal, the Farm-to-Fork Strategy, and the Digital Europe Programme.
The event began on a heartfelt note with a warm welcome from Mr. Nikos Koutsogiannis, Mayor of Naoussa, Imathia, represented by the INSTITUTE FOR PROMOTION AND CERTIFICATION OF AGRIFOOD PRODUCTS (iAgroCert).
In his opening speech, Mayor Koutsogiannis highlighted the historic and cultural richness of Naoussa, expressing pride in hosting a project of such European significance. With sincere enthusiasm, he emphasized the city’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and European unity, setting the tone for a collaborative and forward-thinking event.

EARTH-2030 was more than just an event—it was a movement. Aimed at bridging the digital divide, promoting sustainable food systems, and enhancing climate resilience, the event revolved around three themes:
🌱“Adapting to Climate Change…We’re Changing Too!” Conference
♻️Sustainable Food Management and Zero Waste Solutions Workshop
🌐Digital Inclusion and Sustainability Summit
The conference opened the dialogue on climate mitigation and adaptation, addressing how local governments and citizens can access EU funding for green initiatives. Participants shared strategies, explored policy impacts, and embraced the “twin transition” philosophy—combining environmental and digital transformation.
Focus shifted to food—our most essential resource. Workshops emphasized reducing food waste, supporting local agriculture, and embracing circular economy practices. Attendees included farmers, chefs, municipal leaders, and environmental NGOs.
Digital Inclusion for a Greener Tomorrow

The final day addressed the digital divide. With over 40% of Europeans lacking basic digital skills, the Summit tackled how digital tools can drive climate action—but only if access is equitable. From e-governance to educational apps, discussions focused on empowering marginalized communities.
💡 Message: A climate-neutral future isn’t possible without digital inclusion for all.

EARTH-2030 brought together NGOs and municipalities from five EU countries. Their collaboration sparked new ideas and lasting partnerships—proof that twinning isn’t just about cities; it’s about people and shared goals.
