Project's Summary:

EARTH-2030: Advancing Europe’s Twin Transition through Local Action and Transnational Cooperation

EARTH2030 is a visionary initiative that aligns strategically with key European policy frameworks, including the European Green Deal, the Digital Europe Programme, and the Farm-to-Fork Strategy. The project is implemented by a transnational consortium composed of municipalities and non-governmental organizations from Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, Spain, and Romania. It serves as a model for collaborative, community-driven approaches to sustainability and digital transformation.

At the heart of the project lies a flagship 3-day event hosted in Naousa, Greece. This multifaceted event comprises three interrelated components:

  • “Adapting to Climate Change… We’re Changing Too!” Conference
A platform for exchanging best practices and strategies on local climate adaptation and mitigation.

  • “Sustainable Food Management and Zero Waste Solutions” Workshop
A practical, participatory session focusing on innovative approaches to responsible food consumption and waste reduction.

  • “Digital Inclusion and Sustainability Summit”
A forum for discussing equitable access to digital tools and fostering inclusive participation in the digital transition.

Together, these components create a dynamic environment for dialogue, learning, and action. The initiative brings together a diverse range of stakeholders, including public authorities, educational institutions, environmental organizations, youth groups, local businesses, and food producers. By facilitating collaboration among these actors, EARTH-2030 seeks to promote awareness of EU funding opportunities, support inclusive and sustainable development, and empower communities to co-design resilient local policies.

Moreover, EARTH2030 contributes directly to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular emphasis on:

  • SDG 13: Climate Action

  • SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

  • SDG 2: Zero Hunger

  • SDG 5: Gender Equality

A defining feature of the project is its strong emphasis on long-term impact. EARTH-2030 promotes civic engagement, cross-border cooperation, and a shared European identity. Its town twinning dimension not only connects municipalities but also unites communities under the common vision of a “twin transition”—green and digital. Through fostering mutual understanding, trust, and knowledge exchange, the project lays the groundwork for lasting partnerships and impactful policy advocacy at the local, national, and European levels. In essence, EARTH2030 is more than an event. It is a catalyst for transformative change across Europe.
